The cause of the explosions near Zhytomyr was the illegal production of explosives, - police

The explosions occurred on the territory of a former cowshed, weighing station, and warehouse in the village of Berezyna.

Finished products were stored in unsuitable premises without the necessary permits and in close proximity to residential buildings.

Due to violations of the rules for the manufacture and storage of explosive substances, a fire broke out on July 2 around 18:00, causing detonations with a total power of over four tons in TNT equivalent.

As a result of the explosions, two local residents—aged 16 and 26—were killed, and another 83 people were injured.

The organizers of the illegal production have been notified of suspicion. It is known that they engaged in this for profit, but it is not specified to whom exactly they sold the explosives.
