According to the Office of the President, in Kyiv, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Maya Riniker, the President of the National Council of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland.
"I believe it’s important to send such signals in a challenging time for people – to see the leaders of countries, supporters, our partners who provide us with support. And to see them not only in the capital, therefore, we highly value this," Zelenskyy stated.
The President of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the support in humanitarian demining of Ukraine, as well as for the financial assistance, "including the decision to allocate 5 billion Swiss francs for the reconstruction of Ukraine in the coming years."
The President also recalled the organization of a peace summit in Switzerland last year. This event became an important step forward in the peace process.
"Our position remains unchanged: we condemn Russian aggression against Ukraine, we are committed to a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace, international law, and the UN Charter," Riniker noted.
Zelenskyy discussed with Riniker the issue of the return of children deported by Russia. Switzerland is already considering the possibility of participating in the International Coalition for the return of Ukrainian children, with relevant procedures underway in parliament. Another topic of discussion was the activity of Swiss companies in Ukraine.
