On July 17, the Verkhovna Rada approved the new government headed by Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko. One of the key changes was the merger of three ministries — economy, agricultural policy, and environmental protection — into a single Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, which has already been dubbed the "Ministry of Resources." It is headed by Oleksiy Sobolyev, the former first deputy minister of economy.

Commenting on the appointment, Svyrydenko emphasized that Sobolyev was part of her team and proved himself as an effective negotiator with the USA and an investment specialist.

Who is Oleksiy Sobolyev?

Oleksiy Sobolyev is an economist, financier, and civil servant with experience in implementing digital reforms and transparent management of state assets. He was born in 1983 in Kyiv, graduated from Kyiv National Economic University, and holds an international CFA certification.

He worked at the investment company Dragon Asset Management, as an advisor at the Ministry of Infrastructure, and later headed the Prozorro.Sale system, which he transformed into one of the most successful anti-corruption projects in Ukraine. He was also the director of SE "Prozorro.Sales" until 2023.

Since 2023, he has held the position of Deputy Minister of Economy responsible for digitalization. In July 2024, he was promoted to First Deputy Minister.

Personal life

He is married to designer Nataliya Sobolyeva, co-founder of the Numo Buro studio. Together, they are raising two daughters, Tina and Maya.
