In the center of Kyiv, a woman who was preparing a terrorist attack in a cafe was detained
The counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine prevented a new terrorist attack by Russian special services in Kyiv. A person involved was detained, who on the evening of July 23 attempted to blow up a cafe in the very center of Ukraine’s capital.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
As noted, to commit the crime, she planned to leave two homemade explosive devices (HED) with a total power of almost 1.5 kg in TNT equivalent in the cafe. The Russian special services planned to remotely detonate both HEDs during the evening rush hour to kill as many people as possible.
SBU officers uncovered the enemy’s plans and detained the person involved red-handed when she entered the cafe with the HEDs hidden in a bag.
It was established that the Russian order was carried out by a Kyiv resident, whom the occupiers recruited to carry out the terrorist attack under a "false flag," convincing the woman that she allegedly had to carry out an SSU task. The Security Service is investigating how the person involved obtained the HEDs.
It was documented that she received from the Russian curator the geolocation of the planned explosion site, where she was supposed to leave the explosives. A phone containing evidence of her contacts with the occupiers was confiscated from the person involved.
The question of classifying her actions is currently being decided.
