Zelenskyy signed a law on the application of sanctions to the "shadow fleet"

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law introducing sanctions against the shadow fleet of the Russian Federation, particularly regarding vessels and aircraft involved in the illegal transportation of Russian oil and petroleum products.

This is reported in the project card No. 13020 on the parliament’s website.

The law provides for the introduction of sanctions against vessels and aircraft involved in the shadow transportation of Russian oil, petroleum products, weapons, and military equipment.

The document amends the Law of Ukraine "On Sanctions" to apply sanctions to vessels and aircraft whose activities threaten or may threaten the national interests, security, territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine.

The Security Service of Ukraine and intelligence are tasked with identifying and documenting instances of the use of such vessels.
