Klymenko: After the uncovering of corruption in the National Guard, the individuals involved were suspended, and an official investigation has been initiated

After the discovery of a corruption scheme involving National Guard servicemen, the individuals involved in the case were suspended from their positions. An official investigation has been launched.

This became known from a statement by Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko.

"The Ministry of Internal Affairs is consistently and resolutely combating corruption at all levels. The recent exposure of National Guard servicemen is the result of work by our law enforcement colleagues and proof that there can be no untouchables among lawbreakers," Klymenko emphasized.

He noted that upon his directive, an official investigation was immediately launched, and the Commander of the National Guard suspended those involved from their positions.

"But response is not everything. Within the National Guard, we are implementing systemic safeguards to prevent internal abuses. This involves the newly created Department for Monitoring Service (Combat) Activities," he added.

The Minister stressed that it will operate on the principle of internal security, independently and professionally, and a team of specialists who have been selected based on integrity and professional suitability criteria is already being formed.

"We are building a system where honest service is protected, and violations will inevitably be held accountable," Klymenko concluded.

It should be recalled that earlier today, it became known that NABU and SAPO uncovered large-scale corruption in the procurement of drones and electronic warfare means.

As it turned out, contracts were signed at knowingly inflated prices. As clarified by the prosecutor’s office, a current member of the Ukrainian parliament, heads of district and city military civil administrations, as well as National Guard servicemen, were exposed on bribes.

The media reported that it concerns MP Oleksiy Kuznyetsov. It is known that four individuals have been detained at this time.
