In the Dnipropetrovsk region, soldiers kidnapped a farmer and demanded a ransom of 70,000 dollars
The current company commander of one of the military units and a former serviceman have been detained on suspicion of kidnapping, illegal seizure of a vehicle, and extortion.
As reported by sud.ua, this was announced by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, in July 2025 in the township of Hubynyha, Dnipropetrovsk region, the criminals kidnapped a local farmer, using physical violence on him and handcuffing him. The victim was taken in his own car to a neighboring region, where they demanded 70,000 US dollars for his release. The money was received.
During searches, mobile phones, starter packages, clothing, part of the received funds, and a car purchased with the victim’s money were seized from the detainees. The criminals were detained in accordance with Articles 208 and 615 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Both suspects were notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 146 (illegal imprisonment), Part 2 of Article 289 (illegal seizure of a vehicle), and Part 4 of Article 189 (extortion) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion for a preventive measure in the form of detention. The investigation is ongoing.
