Cases of infectious diseases, including cholera, are being reported in schools in Russian-occupied Donetsk, but the local occupation administration is concealing this information. The silence on issues related to water supply and sanitation poses a direct threat to the health and lives of children. The situation requires urgent attention from the international community.

This was mentioned on air by the head of the Center for Occupation Studies, former adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andryushchenko, on "Espreso" stated.

"The occupiers have driven Donetsk to madness. But we are not doing enough, not paying attention, and not using our public opportunities. For example, last week there was a large meeting conducted by the so-called Ministry of Education of the DPR. The main issue was not even education, but the need to provide children with water and sanitation in schools. After all, water is not only for drinking but also for other important processes.

During this meeting, it was noted that there are cases of cholera in Donetsk schools, which, of course, are not publicly reported. This means that cholera is not the only infectious disease spreading there. If someone is covering up such an infectious epidemic, we understand the level of child mortality it can lead to," emphasized Andryushchenko.

The head of the Center for Occupation Studies stressed the importance of telling the world about life under occupation.

"When these issues are talked about, the international community reacts quite sensitively, and eventually, the Russians are forced to do something for the occupied territories, as they do not like when such civilian stories start spreading in the informational space of Europe or the USA," added Andryushchenko.
