Attack on the TRC: law enforcement investigates attack in Kalush and escape of conscripts

Information about unknown individuals breaking windows and doors of the Kalush District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center was received by the police of Ivano-Frankivsk region around 18:30 on September 22. An unnamed source in the Defense Forces provided detailed information about the incident in a comment to TSN.

The insider reported that, according to various data, 15-20 people had gathered in the area adjacent to the TRC building at the time of the attack. Some of them acted as observers, while the windows and doors were broken by four individuals. They face criminal liability for these illegal actions.

"In addition, it is not ruled out that liability may also apply to those conscripts who left the premises after unknown individuals provided them with the opportunity to exit," the source added.

According to journalists, law enforcement authorities have initiated criminal proceedings under Article 114-1, "Obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations." The article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years.

At the time of the news publication, according to TSN, the police refrained from commenting on whether the individuals who damaged the windows and doors of the Kalush TRC had been detained. The police also did not respond to the question of whether the attackers were related by family ties to the conscripts who fled.

The city council informed journalists that, despite the conflict situation that arose, public order in Kalush remains under control.
