Russia began shelling Kherson with cluster munitions from the DPRK
Russian occupiers have started using cluster munitions manufactured by North Korea for shelling Kherson.
This is reported by Defense Express and Kherson National Police.
The police were the first to publish photos of cluster munitions after the shelling of Kherson. According to law enforcement officials, the munitions were found in the coastal areas of the city. Police showed photos, the markings on the munitions were erased.

After this, the local channel "SPJ Vodogray" published photos of the munitions. In these photos, hieroglyphs on the bodies of submunitions from the "cassette" can be clearly seen, proving that these are shells manufactured in North Korea.

DE notes that there is a common belief: cluster munitions can be launched from the North Korean 240-mm multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) M1991, transferred to Russian occupiers. The use of the Russian copy of the Soviet BM-21 "Grad" - BM-11 is also possible.
"However, Defense Express notes that it is reliably known that Russia received 107-mm cluster rockets for the Type-75 from North Korea. These munitions have been used actively by the enemy for a long time," the article states.
What North Korea included in its "cassettes"
The submunition used in North Korean cluster munitions has been given the designation JU-90. Preliminary information suggests it is not a very successful attempt by North Korea to copy the American M42 submunition, which are used in M483 and M864 cluster shells for 155-mm artillery guns.
In the North Korean JU-90, key elements responsible for the combat effectiveness of the submunition were greatly simplified and made cheaper. The replacement of elements with their primitive analogues resulted in many JU-90s not detonating, posing a huge danger to civilians.
"That is why the police warn that these submunitions are strictly forbidden to be touched or moved, and if found, relevant services should be notified," the publication writes.
