For the first time in the history of the war: artillerymen captured a Russian SRG member near Kostyantynivka
Gunners of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign captured their first prisoner, who was supposed to guide Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRGs) into Kostyantynivka.
The brigade reported this on Saturday, October 25, on YouTube, publishing a video.
The military noted that this case was the first for their unit, and possibly even the first in the history of the war, when gunners captured an enemy prisoner.
«Our gunners did something that you wouldn’t exactly expect from their job — they captured a prisoner. For the first time. We won’t claim for sure, but perhaps this is even the first time during this war that you’ll see such a case. The prisoner is not an ordinary „mobik.“ This is Oleh, an enemy SRG operative, the one who was supposed to guide Russian groups into the city itself. The one who was supposed to prepare the ground for an invasion from within. It didn’t work out,» the statement reads.
The capture of this prisoner disrupted the occupiers’ plans to accumulate forces in Kostyantynivka.
In the video, Ukrainian soldiers recounted that they were searching for a drone, which they later found. About a kilometer from their position, they noticed a man in a Russian uniform. At first, he didn’t notice the Ukrainians. The occupier tried to pass himself off as a fighter from the Azov Regiment. They asked him to say «Palyanytsya,» and he responded with a Russian accent: «Palyanytsya.» After that, he pointed his rifle at one of the Ukrainian soldiers, prompting another soldier to shoot him in the leg, after which the occupier was taken prisoner.
