Ambassador of Ukraine warned about the consequences of full blockade on the border of Poland and Ukraine
Polish farmers blocking the border have no objective reasons to expand their protest. The demands of the strikers have already been heard in the European Union, so further resolution of the problems should move into a constructive and negotiated direction. Otherwise, only Russia will benefit, and the protesting farmers will also be among the losers.
This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Zvarych, Ukrinform reports. According to him, the European authorities are already actively looking for a way out of the situation, and therefore the total blockade that the Poles promise to begin on February 20 is actually not needed.
“I believe that Polish farmers have no reason to escalate their protests, since the whole of Europe is already hearing their voice and is looking for ways to resolve the situation in order to take into account the interests of both Ukrainian and European farmers. We need to learn to live in a united Europe, because Ukraine’s membership in The EU is inevitable,” Zvarych said.
According to him, Ukraine calls on Poland “not to aggravate the situation.” In particular, the Polish side asks to prevent aggravations at the border and to unblock freight traffic between the countries. Otherwise, as the ambassador warns, both the Poles and Ukrainians will lose, and only Moscow will take advantage of this.
“While Polish farmers are blocking the Ukrainian border, agricultural goods, in particular grains, from Russia are freely flowing into Europe. I believe that this is where we will join forces to prohibit the aggressor country from enriching itself thanks to the growth of its exports of agricultural goods to Europe. Buy Russian goods means paying for the Russian war against Ukraine and the entire civilized world, including against Poland, with Ukraine and the EU,” the diplomat said.
