Japan provided Ukraine with $120 million in non-refundable aid
The state budget of Ukraine received $118 million on a non-refundable basis from the Japanese government. The funds were provided within the framework of the World Bank projects “Strengthening the Health System and Saving Life” (HEAL Ukraine) and “Housing Repair to Restore People’s Rights and Opportunities” (HOPE).
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance.
According to the press service, funds under the HEAL and HOPE projects will help the government expand the range of medical services and access to them, as well as ensure overcoming the consequences caused by Russia’s armed aggression by restoring Ukraine’s housing infrastructure.
Attracted grant funding from the Japanese government consists of:
- $70 million within the framework of the World Bank HEAL Ukraine project, aimed at supporting the state budget, as reimbursement of expenses incurred under the medical guarantee program;
- $48.2 million through the World Bank’s Housing for People’s Empowerment (HOPE) project. Funds under the project are used to reimburse state budget expenses used for compensation payments to home owners for repairs in apartment buildings and private buildings in need of minor and medium-sized repairs.
