President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday, April 5, visited the Chernihiv region and checked the progress of construction of fortifications on the border. According to the head of state, all border areas are under constant shelling from the Russian Federation - over the year the enemy fired 15 thousand shells, which is equal to the number of residents of border communities.

Zelenskyy announced the trip in his official Telegram channel. “Today – Chernihiv and region. Our defence is here, our soldiers. Thanks to everyone involved in the construction of fortifications in the region: Chernihiv region is working according to schedule,” he said.

Zelenskyy added that in the Chernihiv region he heard reports from the military and security departments of the region regarding defense issues, the destruction of Russian DRGs and countering shelling.

"In all border areas, the problems are the same. Constant Russian bullying - shelling, terror. For the 15 thousand residents of the border communities of the Chernihiv region, who experience constant such attacks from Russia, terrorists fired 15 thousand shells over the past year. They don’t regret it. They want to destroy literally every person , here all my life,” the president said.

The head of state also noted that everyone “who protects our people, all our communities, all of our Ukraine, everyone in the world who helps Ukraine” is a true defender of life.

Zelenskyy also said that he held a coordination meeting for Chernihiv and the region, at which a number of social and reconstruction issues were discussed.

“We will add speed to the demining of agricultural land - what the region needs, so that there are no remnants of Russian shells. Shells and mines from the time of occupation. Our officials now have the resource to support the economic life of the Chernihiv region,” he said.

In addition, Zelenskyy held a meeting with entrepreneurs as part of the “Made in Ukraine” program, and a platform in the region was presented. Additionally, the economy of the Chernihiv region will receive UAH 1.2 billion from the government:

“The government will allocate 1.2 billion UAH in economic areas in the Chernihiv region - additionally. This is what should be supported. And, of course, I thank everyone who works in our updated industries, in particular in defense companies, everyone who is developing drones ", equipment for the Defence Forces, for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. We can rightfully be proud that in every region of Ukraine people are trying to do everything that is necessary for the country, necessary for our defense, for the success of our soldiers on the battlefield."

Separately, the president noted the border guard soldiers.

"And one more thing. It is here, in the Chernihiv region, that I now want to especially note all our border guard soldiers. Each and everyone who serves in the units of the State Border Service of Ukraine on the border line, as well as together with all units of the Defence and Security Forces at the front "I am grateful to everyone who showed themselves to be truly strong people, truly effective defenders of Ukraine!" – Zelenskyy said.

He said that the special unit of the State Border Service "Dozor" honorably carries out tasks along the entire front line. In particular, the drone crews of this unit deserve state gratitude.

“I’m proud of you, our warriors! Thanks to the border guards from the Guard offensive brigades “Revenge” and “Steel Border”. Warriors of the Volyn detachment, including senior soldiers Serhiy Lebed and Serhiy Antonyuk. Thank you, guys, to you and all your brothers-in-arms! Warriors of the Kherson border detachment, and especially soldier Oleh Shibeko and sergeant Vasyl Kovalenko! Well done! Sumy border detachment, especially sergeants Ihor Lukyanenko and Oleksandr Solomatko! Thank you for opposing Russian saboteurs. Thanks to everyone who gives results for Ukraine!
