The Ministry of Energy urged Ukrainians to save electricity on the evening of May 11

Ukrainians are asked to limit electricity consumption from 17:00 to 22:00.

The Ministry of Energy predicts a shortage of electricity in Ukraine during Saturday, May 11. Residents of the country were urged to save electricity, especially during peak hours (morning and evening). This was reported by the press service of the ministry.

It is noted that over the past 24 hours (May 10), consumers’ needs were covered by their own generation, commercial imports and emergency assistance from the power systems of Poland, Romania and Slovakia.

On Saturday, May 11, Ukraine also requested emergency supplies of electricity from Poland, Romania and Slovakia. The Ministry of Energy noted that on Saturday evening it may also be necessary to attract emergency assistance from neighboring countries. Therefore, Ukrainians were urged to reduce the use of energy-intensive appliances during peak hours.

“A power shortage is also predicted for the evening of the current day. We ask consumers to reduce the use of energy-intensive appliances during peak hours (especially in the evening from 17:00 to 22:00),” the message says.

The ministry also called on the industry to reconsider production processes to reduce the load on the energy system, as well as attract imports as much as possible to avoid blackouts and strengthen the stability of the Ukrainian energy system.
