It is reported that, using the released personnel, it is planned to replenish the command and control bodies at the operational and tactical levels.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted a functional review and decided to optimise the number of staff. It will be reduced by 60%. This was stated by the Head of the Defence Planning Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Yevhen Ostryanskyi.

According to him, the reform of the General Staff will strengthen those structures that directly manage groupings of troops.

“The structure is, first of all, a balance between the need to respond to threats and the state’s capabilities to maintain and, above all, develop the Armed Forces,” he noted.

Ostryansky informed that in February-March of this year, a functional survey was carried out at the General Staff, based on the results of which a decision was made to optimize the staffing levels of some structural units and military command and control bodies.

He explained that this process includes the disbandment of a number of military organizational structures, the formation of new ones, as well as the optimization of existing ones. These measures will eliminate duplication of functions, as well as reduce staffing levels by 60%.

“Due to the released personnel, it is planned to supplement the command and control bodies of the operational and tactical levels, as well as combat military units. This, in turn, will allow for the rotation of units performing long-term combat missions in the combat zone. We understand that in war conditions, first “First of all, those structures that directly control groupings of troops should be strengthened,” emphasized the head of the Main Directorate of Defence Planning of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
