SSU detained a collaborator in Kherson who worked for Saldo
Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine detained another collaborator who collaborated with the occupiers during the occupation of Kherson. The head of one of the regional organizations of the city “Union of Veterans of Afghanistan” volunteered to work for the aggressor state, entered the local occupation administration of the Russian Federation and the pool of pseudo-Kativists under Gauleiter Volodymyr Saldo, who publicly supported the Kremlin, allegedly on behalf of the population of the region.
During the arrest, the suspect tried to hide from law enforcement officers, but he failed. The details were revealed by the SSU.
"The security service detained another collaborator who collaborated with the Russian Federation during the temporary occupation of Kherson. During the arrest, he tried to hide from law enforcement officers: he escaped from the house through a “secret” exit and hid in the basement of a neighboring house. The attacker turned out to be a 55-year-old head of one of the district ". organizations of the city "Union of Afghanistan Veterans". After the capture of the regional center, he voluntarily offered his assistance to the Russian Federation in the war against Ukraine,” the message says.
The occupiers rewarded their betrayal of their apostate with an appointment to the local occupation administration of the Russian Federation: he became the “right hand” of the so-called head of the “department of external relations and internal policy.”
The traitor had one more “mission”: he became one of the individuals from the pool of pseudo-activists of Gauleiter Saldo, who publicly spoke out in support of the Kremlin and allegedly represented the opinions and sentiments of ordinary people and public organizations of the Kherson region.
In particular, this is exactly the role the traitor played during the “public forum” organized by the occupiers under the loud title “We are together with Russia.” This “forum” supposedly reflected the total “desire” of the residents of the Kherson region to “join” the Russian Federation, previously the mentioned character, along with other collaborators, Saldo and traitors like the former fugitive people’s deputy Ihor Markov, called from the stage of the propaganda event.
His speech, the SSU notes, was presented by the occupiers as the “common position” of the Kherson community.
The Service did not name the traitor. However, during the period of the pseudo-forum, Russian propagandists reported the participation in this performance of one “Afghan warrior” - Roman Khrystenko from Kherson; in the registers he is mentioned as a co-founder of the Komsomolsk district organization of the Kherson city “Union of Afghanistan Veterans”.
Google knows one Afghan, Roman Khrystenko, from Kherson, who is also related to the leadership of the regional organization of veterans of that war. There is a video interview online with the full namesake of the mentioned “activist.” Whether this person is the one who was detained by the Service is 100% unknown, but a number of factors indicate that this is probably the same person.
When the Russians fled from Kherson, the collaborator did not run after them. He stayed in the regional center and tried to lie low to avoid justice.
“The SSU counterintelligence officers documented the defendant’s crimes, established his location and detained him. A language and linguistic examination initiated by the Security Service confirmed the facts of the information and subversive activities of the collaborator. SSU investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 6 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code,” noted in message.
The collaborator is currently in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
