Yermak named the conditions for holding the second Peace Summit

The second peace summit can only take place when a corresponding joint plan is ready.

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, spoke about this in an interview.

Explaining what the general plan is, Yermak noted that there is a Peace Formula consisting of 10 points. The formula was announced by the president more than 2 years ago.

These were simply the names of these points. Immediately after Jeddah - a meeting at the level of national security advisers - a decision was agreed upon to create here in Kyiv, at the level of ambassadors, experts, 10 working groups, which have been working non-stop to this day," Yermak said.

According to him, these working groups have already worked out the implementation of each of these points, specific steps and specific deadlines that are necessary for the implementation of each of these points.

"There are absolutely clear points, we started with these at the first inaugural summit, more difficult ones, such as responsibility, such as the withdrawal of Russian troops, territorial integrity and so on, the restoration of territorial integrity," the official emphasized.

Yermak added that after the first summit, the president set the task for the entire team to work on organizing thematic conferences that would record the developments of the working groups at a higher level in order to finally draw up this general plan.

“We don’t want this work to last for months, we want to do it quickly enough, so today we already have some groundwork and I even assume that the first conferences will start to take place in the near future. In order to have this plan as soon as possible,” Yermak said.

He expressed hope that the second Peace Summit could take place in 2024, but added that "there are conditions without which this second summit cannot take place": "The President has said several times that he is interested in it taking place as soon as possible. And there are certain conditions that we are working on today. As soon as these conditions are met, then we can talk about a specific date and place for this second Summit."

"We shouldn’t treat the second summit like, you know, the World Cup. The meeting at the level of advisers is like a qualifier. Then the first summit is like a semi-final, and the second summit is the final and it will all end there, and so on. I would very much like that. But once again, we are realists," Yermak said.

Asked whether it was possible for a Russian representative to attend the second summit and be given the plan, Yermak said that such a possibility exists. But, according to him, this does not mean that the second summit will be some kind of start to negotiations with Russia.

No, that is not what we are talking about. We want the meeting at which this plan can be conveyed to take place not between Ukraine and Russia, but in the presence of all those responsible countries that are going along this path with us, that supported our plan and are at the table,” Yermak explained.
