Fire at oil depot in Rostov region fails to extinguish for third day
In the Rostov region of the Russian Federation, attempts to extinguish a fire at the Kavkaz oil depot, where oil products for the needs of the Russian army are stored, are continuing for the third day in a row, but the area of the fire has only increased several times - now 22 tanks are burning there.
This is reported by Russian propaganda channels and Telegram channels.
According to local authorities, the area of the fire at the oil depot in Proletarsk reached 10 thousand square meters.
It is noted that currently about 22 of 74 diesel fuel tanks are burning, which are likely to burn for several more days.
About 520 people are taking part in extinguishing the fires, and rescuers from neighboring regions are being called in.
At present, it has not been possible to localize the fire. At the scene of the incident, the surface between the tanks is constantly being poured to prevent a possible detonation.
Russian officials say the fire at the oil depot in Proletarsk, Rostov Oblast, began on Sunday "after three aircraft-type UAVs crashed."
Local authorities earlier on Monday reported 18 casualties; Rostov Region Governor Vasily Golubev noted that firefighters were injured. Later, the head of the region reported an increase in the number of injured firefighters to 41 people: 18 of them required hospitalization, including five in intensive care.
A high alert regime was introduced in the Proletarsky District, and a state of emergency was introduced in Proletarsk on August 19.
