Norway has stopped providing temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees from certain regions
Norway has cancelled the automatic provision of protection for Ukrainian refugees from six regions of Ukraine – Lviv, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Rivne.
This was reported by the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, citing the Norwegian government.
The ministry clarified that the Directorate of Immigration (UDI) considers these six regions to be safe. Therefore, people arriving in the country from these territories will undergo an individual assessment of their protection needs and may be denied asylum.
These changes are necessary for Norway to control and stabilize migration processes, as well as to further provide even support to Ukrainians. They do not apply to individuals who have already received temporary protection in Norway and their close relatives, as well as individuals offered medical evacuation to Norway (patients of the Medevac service) and their accompanying relatives.
