The government refused to increase budgetary support for military units in 2024
Nina Yuzhanina explained why budget support for military units was not increased.
The government decided not to increase budget support for military units in 2024, despite the recommendations of the Verkhovna Rada. This was explained by the People’s Deputy from the party "European Solidarity," member of the Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Nina Yuzhanina.
"Despite the recommendations of the Verkhovna Rada, the government refused to increase the percentage of revenue from the payment of personal income tax, which is credited to the special fund of the state budget and directed to military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations for material and technical support," the statement said.
According to Yuzhanina, the government reported that this "would lead to a deficit of funds necessary to ensure the fulfillment of the tasks defined by the article."
"What are more important tasks, other than confronting the enemy, and who, if not the military, should primarily receive funds. Of course, if funds are transferred directly to military units, they can no longer be taken to the general fund to spend on various whims," stated the deputy.
