The embezzlement of 21 million hryvnias in "Ukrzaliznytsia": all charges against the former official have been dropped

Charges of embezzling 21.4 million UAH of state funds have been dropped against a former official of "Ukrzaliznytsia". The corresponding decision was made by the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC) on November 19.

As the judge announced during the video broadcast of the session, former head of procurement procedures management at "Ukrzaliznychpostach" Iryna Hordyeyeva was found not guilty and acquitted due to the lack of evidence proving her crime. Consequently, the arrest of her property was lifted.

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) is already preparing to appeal this decision in the Appeals Chamber of the HACC, as the prosecutor did not agree with the decision made. He is convinced that the collected evidence indicates the defendant’s intentional abuse of her official position.

"The prosecutor believes that the evidence collected during the pre-trial investigation indicates that the former official of "Ukrzaliznytsia" intentionally abused her official position to ensure the unjustified victory of one of the companies in the procurement procedure of fastening products in 2014 and the subsequent embezzlement of state enterprise funds in favor of such a winner," reported SAPO.

In addition to Iryna Hordyeyeva, the NABU and SAPO accused three other individuals in this case: Nadiya Bohdan, Dmytro Tsivun, and Roman Kravchuk. According to the investigation, in 2014-2015, former deputy director of "Ukrzaliznychpostach" Kravchuk, former head of the tender committee of "Ukrzaliznychpostach" Hordyeyeva, allegedly in collusion with the director of LLC "Inkomm" Bohdan and the financial director of LLC "Soyuz-Energo" Tsivun, caused damage to the state enterprise by conducting a state procurement of track fastenings in 2014 at inflated prices by 21.4 million UAH. Hordyeyeva was decided to be tried separately.
