Zelenskyy summarized his trip to Zaporizhzhya

The head of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his evening address on Thursday, December 12, summarized the results of his trip to Zaporizhzhya on the Day of the Land Forces. In particular, he met with commanders of battalions and companies of the 65th and 118th separate mechanized brigades, as well as the 128th separate Territorial Defence Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the visit, he held a Staff meeting in Zaporizhzhya, where they discussed the general situation at the front, strengthening air defenses, existing problems, and ways to solve them. Zelenskyy reported this on his social media.

"We need real peace, so we must be really strong for this. And we must do everything so that each day brings us closer to peace," the president emphasized.

Special attention was paid to the training of mobilized servicemen. Zelenskyy noted that he spoke with commanders of various levels: battalion commanders and senior officers. He emphasized the need for changes in the work of training centers and highlighted the importance of basic military training under the guidance of brigade instructors and commanders, with whom the military would carry out combat missions.

"In the brigades themselves, all effective training experiences need to be scaled and accelerated. A combat brigade is often the best instructor. A very good decision is investing directly in brigades so that they can independently purchase drones - those they specifically need. We are increasing funding," said the president in his address.

Particular attention was paid to ensuring the provision of units with drones and their use. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Defence to rapidly meet the urgent needs of the units and supply them monthly. They also discussed the development of a system to counter enemy reconnaissance drones. There are successful developments that have been agreed to be implemented in other military units.

To achieve maximum results in solving the tasks, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Colonel Pavlo Palisa, will maintain constant communication with the commanders.

Zelenskyy reported that an important meeting was held with commanders of various units - battalion commanders and senior officers. They discussed the need for changes in the military training system, primarily in training centers. According to him, the priority should be the scaling of effective experience directly in brigades, where combat units are the best instructors for themselves.

A useful initiative is also directing funds directly to brigades, where they can be used at their discretion for purchasing necessary drones.

"We are increasing funding. Work with drones must also constantly change - this is necessary to adapt to the development of the combat situation. War requires changes to save lives. The lives of our warriors and to defend Ukraine," the president noted.

At the same time, great attention was paid to air defense issues, front stabilization, and the fulfillment of key security tasks. The main goal remains to create conditions for real peace, and for this, a strong and effective defense system is needed.

In addition, Zelenskyy reported that the first modern school has started operating in Zaporizhzhya, located in a shelter and provides safety for children. One thousand students can study here.

"And thanks to this, third graders, second graders, and the youngest could study together. Together, offline, so all social skills are present. This is very important - so the war doesn’t take away the possibility for children to become successful adults. We are building similar schools in frontline regions and in the Zaporizhzhya region, in particular. We will speak with partners next week - for more air defence, for quicker peace," he added.
