The EU will oppose Trump’s plan for a ceasefire in Ukraine without a peace agreement

The European Union will oppose Trump’s proposal to implement a ceasefire in Ukraine before a peace agreement is reached.

This is reported in the draft communiqué of the EU summit, which will take place on March 6, and is published by Suspilne.

"A ceasefire is only possible in the context of a comprehensive peace agreement. Any such agreement must be accompanied by strong and reliable security guarantees for Ukraine," the document states.

Europe will also state that it must participate in the negotiations concerning Ukraine. According to Suspilne, the EU might appoint its own special representative to participate in the negotiations.
