According to Zelenskyy after the summit in Paris, "lifting sanctions from Russia ’now’ will lead to a ’catastrophe for diplomacy’."

"Sanctions are one of the few effective tools the global community has to persuade Russia to engage in serious negotiations. What can be done besides sanctions? If sanctions are weakened and Russia violates the agreement, reinstating sanctions will be an extremely slow and difficult process. By that time, many will simply lose faith in the effectiveness of sanctions," noted the President of Ukraine.
