Actor Dmytro Yaroshenko explained his escape abroad: He was implementing an "important project"
Ukrainian actor Dmytro Yaroshenko, who played the role of Vasyl Stus in the film "Forbidden," explained why he decided not to return to Ukraine after leaving the country with permission from the Ministry of Culture.
He mentioned this in a comment to Suspilne Kultura.
According to the actor, even before the start of filming "At the Zenith," he was invited to an "important international project in Europe." He bought plane tickets for March 2022, but was unable to travel then. Eventually, he left the country in September of the same year.
Yaroshenko explained to journalists that he stayed abroad due to a "lack of safety guarantees in Ukraine, lack of deadlines, and shocking events."
"I was forced to make a decision to seek asylum in other countries and work on the current, important project," Suspilne quotes the actor.
He also stated that he communicated with producer Kondratiuk and director Stekolenko to discuss the possibilities of completing the film’s shooting. But this is impossible due to the "martial law in the country and financial expenses on defence and survival."
Information about Yaroshenko’s departure abroad was made public by Ihor Kondratyuk in an interview with Yanina Sokolova. According to him, this is the reason why the filming of "At the Zenith" cannot be completed.
