German Foreign Minister Wadephul arrived in Ukraine
The Foreign Minister of the new German government, Johann Wadephul, arrived in Ukraine on May 9 for his first visit.
This was reported by Tagesschau.
Wadephul arrived in Lviv, where an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers will take place on May 9. On the evening of May 8, he posted a short video on his X about his arrival in Ukraine.
In comments to journalists, the minister assured that Germany will continue to be one of the countries most supportive of Ukraine and "will clearly demonstrate this in the coming days."
The head of the German Foreign Ministry noted that he will learn about Ukraine’s current needs.
"We will continue to do what is necessary and will do it as long as needed, until Russia understands that this war needs to end, that they should come to the negotiating table, and that it is necessary (…) to adhere to the ceasefire," – said Wadephul.
