At LNTU, more than 1000 students aged 25 and older were expelled
In September of last year, over 1,000 students were expelled from Lutsk National Technical University.
This was stated by the university’s rector, Iryna Vakhovych, in an interview on the Insider Media channel.
The rector was asked whether it is true that students aged 25 and older enroll to get a deferment, and if many such students have appeared in LNTU in recent years.
“The beginning of the full-scale invasion. Of course, everyone was enrolling, because it was not forbidden, with the thought that you would have a deferment if you were studying for the second or third time. But the state took care of it. Those who were not studying for the first time lost this deferment. You can study as many times as you want, but no deferment was given.
We had many students who wanted not so much to study as to get this deferment. If you look at it, 1,000 students aged 25+ were expelled in September 2024. Why? Because the legislation changed, and they were no longer given this deferment. So the state’s right steps resolved this whole situation,” Iryna Vakhovych explained.

She also added that the university cannot deny such students admission, because, according to her, once a prospective student has gone through all the admission stages, the university has to enroll them.
Additionally, Iryna Vakhovych noted that all faculty and postgraduate students in the university are exempt. According to the rector, these categories are not subject to mobilization.
