The former chief doctor of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Medical and Social Expertise Center, Tetyana Krupa, who is suspected of illegal enrichment, rented an apartment near NABU and is preparing to be released from the detention center.

This is reported by «Glavcom» with reference to the court registry.

According to the pre-trial investigation data, on May 5, the suspect, while in the Kyiv detention center, rented accommodation near the building of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. This fact was voiced by Krupa’s lawyer, referring to the real estate rental agreement. The lawyer persuaded the court of the necessity to change the preventive measure for the client - from detention in the detention center to round-the-clock house arrest. Such a restriction, according to the defence, is sufficient to ensure Tetyana Krupa’s proper procedural behavior at this stage of the pre-trial investigation.

However, the investigating judge rejected the arguments of Krupa’s lawyers. The judiciary believes that there are currently a number of risks that the suspect may exploit. Among them are evading the pre-trial investigation or court authorities (the court believes that Tetyana Krupa, if released, may leave the territory of Ukraine, bypassing the checkpoints thanks to a wide range of connections); illegal influence on witnesses, other participants in the criminal proceedings. The court also emphasized that there is a risk of the suspect committing another criminal offense or continuing the specified crime. This follows from the fact that law enforcement found a large amount of cash in Tetyana Krupa’s home and workplace, for which «there is no reasonable explanation for the legality of its origin», the court clarified.

Therefore, the anti-corruption court refused to change the preventive measure applied to the suspect, the former head of the MSEC of Khmelnytskyi region, as requested by the defence attorney.
