Switzerland will accept Ukrainian refugees only from regions where there is war

Switzerland will accept Ukrainian refugees according to the "Norwegian" model - exclusively from regions where active hostilities are taking place.

This was reported by the broadcasting company SRF.

The country’s Federal Council will soon make a decision on restricting the admission of refugees from Ukraine. The parliament recommended this step back in December.

"Protection will be granted only to those who previously lived in territories fully or partially occupied by Russia or in areas with ’more or less intense’ hostilities," the article notes.

It is claimed that Switzerland will adopt the Norwegian classification, according to which regions in the west and center of Ukraine (on the map) are considered safe. Kyiv is included in the list of dangerous zones, as are Odesa, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhya, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy.

"Changes are only possible in the outskirts of the city of Kyiv. Norway designates only the city’s territory as dangerous, while Switzerland may recognize a broader area as dangerous," the publication writes.

Currently, about one-third of the refugees arriving in Switzerland are from "safe" regions.
