The Bureau of Economic Security is investigating the activities of gambling organizers: "Goryllabet" under investigation

BES reported the investigation of a criminal case regarding the activities of the company LLC "Goryllabet" and other information about possible illegal activities of gambling organizers who have licenses. The case was opened back in September 2022.

It features signs of such offenses as tax evasion (part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code), illegal gambling business (part 2 of Article 203-2), violation of trademark rights (part 2 of Article 229), and money laundering of proceeds from crime (Article 209 of the Criminal Code).

BES is investigating the facts of probable illegal activities of gambling operators who hold official licenses. Detectives are gathering materials, carrying out investigative actions, and analyzing documents received from various institutions.

The National Bank of Ukraine stated that it does not have the authority to check the financial activities of LLC "Goryllabet" since the company is not a bank or a financial institution subject to regulation by the NBU. At the same time, the NBU pointed out existing legislative restrictions: gambling organizers are not allowed to have connections with residents of aggressor countries.

Amid the sanctions imposed against the company "Parimatch," as stated in the NSDC decision of March 10, 2023, any interaction or control by such companies is grounds for inspections.

The National Bank advises referring questions regarding sanctions and the activities of "Gorillabet" to the Cabinet of Ministers, the SSU, or the State Agency PlayCity. These bodies have the authority to check compliance with legislation in the gambling business sector and monitor sanction restrictions.

To remind, we previously reported that despite the strict sanctions imposed by the Ukrainian government on the betting company Parimatch, its online platform continues to operate, using new mechanisms for masking and circumventing restrictions.
