Zelenskyy: There are no "Russian children" in Ukraine, Moscow is inventing new pretexts for pressure
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv is unaware of the presence of so-called "Russian children" or "residents of the Kursk region" on Ukrainian territory. According to him, such claims by Russia are another attempt at pressure and disinformation in response to Ukraine’s actions on the international stage.
Zelenskyy said this during an interaction with journalists on July 24.
According to the head of state, there is no confirmed evidence regarding the presence of Russian children in Ukraine. "This is some new informational track they are launching in response to our actions. No longer surprising," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He also noted that Russia regularly uses similar topics as part of informational attacks. For example, after Kyiv questioned Putin’s legitimacy, the Kremlin immediately began spreading theses about the alleged "illegitimacy" of Zelenskyy himself. A similar situation occurred with the topic of returning the bodies of the deceased.
Let us recall, earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated that during negotiations in Istanbul, the Russian side handed over to the Ukrainian delegation a list of 20 "Russian children" who allegedly are in Ukraine or were taken to EU countries. In turn, head of the Russian delegation Vladimir Medinskiy accused Ukraine of not fulfilling the terms of the "memorandum" regarding the return of "residents of the Kursk region."
Zelenskyy emphasized that such statements have no basis and are part of the informational war conducted by Russia.
