Russia attacked SOCAR oil depot in Odesa region at night: there are injuries
On the night of August 8, 2025, Russia launched an attack with 5 "Shahed" type drones on the oil depot of the Azerbaijani oil company SOCAR in the Odesa region, causing a fire and damaging a diesel fuel pipeline.
This was reported to EP by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies.
The fire was quickly localized. According to EP’s interlocutors, four employees sustained serious injuries as a result of the Russian strike and were provided with emergency medical assistance. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed, and urgent repair works are underway.
"Official investigation data has not yet been disclosed, but the impact points of the five guided drones clearly indicate that the oil depot was the primary target of the attack," law enforcement officials stated.
This is already the second targeted attack on critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine associated with Azerbaijan in recent times.
In particular, a recent strike was carried out on the "Orlivka" gas distribution station, located near the border with Romania. This station is a key element of the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline, through which Azerbaijani gas is planned to be transported to Ukraine.
In connection with recent events and active mentions of Azerbaijani assets as "legitimate targets" in pro-Russian information resources, there is a significant risk of further attacks on SOCAR facilities in Ukraine, according to sources in law enforcement agencies.
