A fire broke out in a hospital in Uzhhorod: a person has died

A fire broke out at Uzhhorod City Hospital - a ward on the fifth floor caught fire, resulting in the death of a patient.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on Telegram.

"Fire at Uzhhorod City Hospital: a ward on the fifth floor caught fire - a 74-year-old patient died. The man was poisoned by combustion products and felt unwell. Unfortunately, it was not possible to save him," the rescuers reported.

Before the arrival of the rescuers, hospital staff evacuated patients to a safe place. A total of 69 people were evacuated.

"The causes of the fire are being investigated by law enforcement agencies," the service added.

Meanwhile, the Uzhhorod police reported that they conducted initial investigative actions, including an inspection of the scene.

"During the questioning of witnesses and eyewitnesses, the latter noted: the deceased repeatedly disregarded fire safety rules in the hospital," the law enforcement press service stated.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 270 - violation of fire or technogenic safety requirements established by law, if it resulted in the death of people.
