Polish farmers at the border block and destroy equipment for the Ukrainian military - volunteers
Volunteers say that Polish farmers are blocking equipment for the Ukrainian military at the border.
Polish protesters do not allow trucks to pass with the help of the Ukrainian military. Ukrainian Nazar Smyk, who lives in the UK and is engaged in the purchase of military and industrial equipment for Ukraine, reported this on his social networks. Nazar Smyk wrote on Sunday, March 3, that two of his trucks were parked in front of the Medyka-Shegyni checkpoint.
“Fucking farmers are again not allowing trucks for our military,” the Ukrainian wrote.
In a media commentary, Nazar Smyk said that two of his trucks were transporting four Daf military trucks to Ukraine.
“These are demilitarized military trucks going to one of the funds, they have already been paid for. Already on the spot they will be distributed between brigades, in particular for the 12th Special Purpose Brigade "Azov" of the National Guard of Ukraine. The Poles said that they would not let us through. I spoke to the embassy, they said that the entire border was closed. The police tried to transfer the trucks to the second checkpoint, but they only let one truck through per hour. If I go there, I’ll be stuck for several days,” said the Ukrainian.
The media have already written that the Poles blocked trucks at the border with aid for the military. Then Nazar Smyk reported that his vehicles with equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces were blocked at the border for three days. After publicity about this situation, in particular publications in the media, Nazar Smyk’s cargo was allowed through.
Nazar Smyk noted that the Polish police are not reacting to the situation in any way. The man added that problems arise with every truck that travels to Ukraine.
“They have elections and they deliberately block the border. The police don’t even allow them to see the protesters. The police cannot do anything there, they simply avoid conflicts. Last time, because of a scandal, customs officers left at night and pulled out the trucks and threw them across the border. I made a scandal then, but the situation has not changed. Today the trucks are standing again. I am forced to make a scandal to show the Poles what kind of foolishness is happening at the border,” said Nazar Smyk.
The volunteer added that this situation with the delay of military equipment at the border has been going on since the beginning of the grain blockade; logistics have increased from five to 14 days.
As State Border Guard Service speaker Andriy Demchenko said during the telethon, now all six checkpoints continue to be blocked on the Ukrainian-Polish border, and 2,400 trucks are waiting in line to enter Ukraine. The longest queues are near the Krakivets and Yahodyn checkpoints. At Yahodyn, trucks are only allowed through in the direction of Ukraine; over the past 24 hours, only 70 vehicles passed through this checkpoint.
“Let me remind you that Yahodyn is the largest infrastructure direction, where 1200-1400 trucks can cross the border in both directions. Now only cargo vehicles heading to Ukraine are allowed through... Not a single truck crosses the border towards Poland, because they are not allowed through,” said a representative of the State Border Guard Service.
