The Ukrainian Armed Forces hit the 100-year-old Russian ship "Kommuna" in Sevastopol
On the morning of April 21, explosions were heard in temporarily occupied Sevastopol. Local residents reported that a column of smoke rose in the city, and the invaders, according to tradition, reported that “everything is under control.”
However, over time it became clear that Ukrainian troops hit another ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. This was reported by Defence Express.
According to preliminary data, an enemy ship in Sukharna Bay could have been damaged as a result of the strike. Ukrainian defenders could attack the rescue ship Kommuna and the large landing ship. In particular, OSINT blogger MT Anderson published satellite images, according to which the Yamal landing ship could be in Sukharna Bay.
At the same time, the rescue ship "Kommuna" was located at the berth next to Dokovaya Bay, 1.5 km to the west, next to Russian warships, including two Project 1135 patrol ships "Burevestnik".
The speaker of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk, in a comment to the Ukrainian media, clarified that the defenders attacked the “Commune”. He also added that the work to eliminate the enemy ship on duty was carried out by soldiers of the Ukrainian Navy.
Despite being over 100 years old, the rescue ship Kommuna plays a large role in the enemy’s capabilities on the Ukrainian peninsula. As part of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, this is the only rescue vessel designed for deep-sea operations, in particular for lifting submarines and sunken cargo. It was the “Commune” that the occupiers used to inspect the destroyed missile cruiser “Moskva”.
