Oil spill moves along the Crimean coast towards Yalta - Media
The oil pollution caused by the tanker accidents in the Kerch Strait is moving along the coast of the Crimean Peninsula towards Yalta.
This is reported by the project "Crimea. Realities".
According to information from a group of scientists led by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Serhiy Zatsepa, the pollution stain is moving southwest, bypassing the Feodosia Bay, Sudak, and Alushta, directly towards Yalta.
"Currently, in all coastal settlements, local administrations are holding unscheduled meetings of commissions to prevent and eliminate emergencies related to the developing technogenic disaster. Oil-affected birds are already being found on the Southern Coast of Crimea," a Crimean activist reported to the publication on condition of anonymity.
According to him, the affected birds are being sent from the coast to the Yalta zoo "Kazka," where, after receiving assistance, they are planned to be released into the wild.
"Volunteers and ecologists are documenting cases of bird contamination, in order to have grounds for filing claims against those responsible for the disaster together with lawyers. People are not ready to leave them unpunished. Preliminary work is also being conducted to prepare collective lawsuits from the affected tourism businesses against the management of the company that owns the sunken tankers," the interlocutor noted.
